HISTORY OF THE FAIR
In the early 1980's the business owners decided that
Parkville needed a
fair or festival to promote the businesses in the area. So, in 1984 the
first Annual Parkville Towne Center Fair was held on the sidewalks in front of
the stores.
Mary Geeson and the late Ruth Bormam were the first Fair
organizers. They would have fellow artists display their work and give out
awards for the artwork.
Over the past sixteen years, the Annual Parkville Fair has
grown and attracted craftspeople and other vendors from all over Maryland,
Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
The community also uses the Annual Parkville Towne Centre
Fair as an opportunity to recognize the many volunteers in the area.
Congressional and Senatorial awards are given to many deserving volunteers who
give many hours to the community and need to be recognized. |
